GQ in Violation of Child Labour Laws?

The Story

Joseph Dawkins more popularly known as GQ, the Manger and father of QQ, the Jamaican Child star who is the artiste behind the hit song Stookie, is apparently under investigation for breaking Jamaican Child Labour laws. According to the Law it is illegal for children under 13 years to be employed without a mandatory exemption granted by the relevant authorities. QQ started his career at the age of 10 and according to sources, did not have the mandatory exemption which is a requirement. In an effort to get to the bottom of the matter, Government has banned QQ from performing in the US and has taken hold of his travel documents.

My Views

Now QQ is all of what, 13 years old, and his first interview as far back as i can see was when he was 10 years old. That means that for about 3 years now authorities have been aware that QQ's Manger and father has been in violation of the Child Labour Laws. Why is it that now, when he is out of school for a whole 2 months, they decide that they are going to take action. If they were so concerned before, why is it that for the past 3 years nobody did anything? Seriously now...are you trying to tell me that nobody knew what was happening? I doubt that very much; QQ hasn't exactly been in hiding, the boy has videos for petes sake (i don't know who pete is).

Don't get me wrong though. If there are certain allowances for children under 13 to be employed and for those between 13-and 15 to be employed then GQ should have explored those options. Why take the chance, especially since he is a “street man and QQ is not an Issa or Butch Stewart pickney” (Source Xnews). If he is in violation of the law, then some recourse must occur. In any case i find the timing to be very suspect and goes to show just how much or Justice System needs to be revamped.
