The Story
Entertainer Siccature Alcock, better known as Jah Cure was released on Parole on Saturday July 28, from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Facility in Kingston. He was release hours before he was expected to leave the prison, a move i believe was sensible in order to prevent Jah Caure missed all the fan fare that would have awaited him and 8 am on the morning of his release. According to Jah Cure, he was sorry that his fans came out and didn't a chance to see him.
Jah Cure was arrrested in 1998 and charged in 1999 for possession of illegal firearm, robbery and rape. he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, at the time with earliest parole date being July 28, 2007.
My Views
Jah Cure rose to fame while in prison with songs such as "Prison Walls (Reflection)". To be honest if no one told you, you would never even know that Jah Cure was in Prison. I think he has definitely benefited more from Prison than most convicts. Prison walls I imagine would not have even been written if he was not incarcerated. It seems to me that going to Prison was the best thing that ever happened to Jah Cure. He gets to sit around in Prison and rise to stardom but what of the young lady who he allegedly raped. I don't understand the Jamaica public, its as though they have forgotten what had even happened. Would so many of us be so quick to welcome him back if it was our daughter, mother, cousin, aunt, sister, he had allegedly raped. The Montegonians seem to turn a blind eye to the conviction; "a fi dem star" and nothing, not even the ruined life of a two young women would taint their glory.
